Best Management Practices: Level Spreader [Lv]
Constructed across a slope at zero grade, a level spreader allows concentrated runoff to be discharged into undisturbed areas at non-erosive velocities.
Level spreaders provide a smooth outlet to convert concentrated flow into sheet flow. Stabilized with rock or an erosion control blanket (Mb), the level spreader should be a minimum of six feet in width.
Level spreaders can often be found at the end of diversion swells or storm-water channels.
